Concerts in St-Martins-in-the-Fields

St Martins-in-the-Fields is the church right next to Trafalgar Square, usually it seems to be a bit of a homeless person hang-out, but they also hold concerts there. I'm not sure if they always focus on Baroque music, but that's certainly all we have seen there. It's always the really popular stuff too, which is not a bad thing. At the last concert we had Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Spring and Summer from the 4 Seasons, so all stuff that most people know. They really focus on Bach, Vivaldi and Handel. I'm hoping for a bit more Telemann one of these days.

The only downside with concerts in this church is how incredibly hot it gets in there. It's quite amazing, for me churches have always been associated with a deep-seated cold. And yet in this one you'll find yourself dropping off halfway through just because of the heat. I guess it's because they have to close the doors during the performance to keep out the taxi noise, maybe they could invest in some fans to compensate.
